A unique benefit of living in Historic Jonesborough in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains is being able to bring your lawn chair or a blanket and join friends and family for an outdoor Friday evening of great music and social fellowship. Music on the Square is a weekly music festival held May through October that offers music at its best with the townscape of downtown Jonesborough as the setting. Music on the Square provides live concerts featuring a variety of music that ranges from Americana, Bluegrass, Celtic, Irish, Old-Time, Blues and Jazz. Local and regional bands, storytellers, poets and performance artists provide the weekly line-up of live entertainment.
Main Street is blocked off to through traffic and people begin gathering between 6 & 6:30 pm. The music starts around 7pm. Attendance is free but we do “pass the hat” during the regular season. Come have dinner in one of our unique restaurants and indulge in some dessert. Most shops stay open late, so pay them a visit and do a little “Buy Local” shopping.
Residents and visitors love to visit, chat, enjoy the music and meet new friends while in the picturesque setting of Tennessee’s oldest town.
