The Library is known for its extensive collection of Genealogy resources, and offerings of educational meetings, organized by the Jonesborough Genealogical Society. Their collection includes many books on local and regional history and families from Northeast Tennessee. In addition, the Library’s microfilm collection includes every extant newspaper published in Jonesborough.
The Library offers many programs for children, teens and adults including weekly book discussion groups complete with coffee and dessert, a monthly family movie night with popcorn and drinks, as well as yarn and cross stitch groups that are open to anyone. These are various ways for children to get excited about the Library too, including reading programs often hosting professional storytellers and additional programs for toddlers and pre-K.
An extensive collection of books and resources are available at the Washington County/Jonesborough Public Library, as well as an addition of OneClick Digital eAudio books and eBooks.
The Friends of the Library is an organization dedicated to supporting the many activities of the Library, and host a variety of events each year including a Bocce Ball Tournament, a Fall Book Sale, a food booth during the National Storytelling Festival and much more.
