Wastewater Construction Worker I
This employee lays sewer pipe in installations of sewer collection system and carries out various activities in sewer system repair and evaluation. Also assists with repairs in the collection system. The employee is under the direct supervision of the Director of Environmental Services (DES) or anyone designated with in the department by the DES. Beginning salary is $19.42 an hour.
Water Treatment Operator
Performs responsible semiskilled work on an assigned shift; operates water treatment plant equipment and facilities; Employees in this class are responsible for the operation of water filters and chemical feeders used in the treatment of water. Duties include the taking of samples for laboratory analysis, and the reading and recording of meters at regular intervals. The work is supervised by the Assistant Water Treatment Director through inspection, and by observing the effectiveness of plant operation through the analysis of shift reports and chemical laboratory tests. Beginning salary is $21.46 an hour.
Water Technician
Performs intermediate field and clerical work in reading meters and recording consumption. The primary responsibility of positions in this class is the accurate reading and recording of water consumption for utility customers. The work includes maintaining records on standard forms to ensure proper billing. Duties include reading meters through the AMR system and assisting with the programming and installation of new digital meters. Employees follow designated routes, receive specific work instructions, and refer questions and concerns to the Water Quality Supervisor. Beginning salary is $20.08 an hour.
Equipment Operator III – Water Distribution
Performs intermediate skilled work operating dump trucks, medium construction equipment, backhoes, knuckle booms, sanitation trucks or equivalent equipment. This is skilled work in the operation of moderately complex specialized maintenance and construction automotive equipment. The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment. Employees in this class must have manipulative skill of a higher degree than employees of a lower class, and work in this class differs from that of the lower class of operator in that incumbents must operate heavier, more complex and specialized equipment, and several types of equipment within this category interchangeably. Supervision may be exercised over one or two laborers assigned to garbage or refuse pick up, water distribution or wastewater construction, or may act as crew leader. Work may be performed with considerable independence, but a supervisor will regularly check the work performed for quality, quantity, safety of operation and care of equipment. This position requires a Class A License. Beginning salary is $23 an hour.
Shop Foreman
Performs accurate scheduling for himself and the other mechanics in shop to maximize shop efficiency. The employee in this class assists other mechanics in correct diagnoses for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and structural repairs for, heavy equipment, stationary equipment with an engine, lawn equipment, farm equipment, cars and trucks of all sizes. The employee is responsible for the cleanness of the shop and parking lot, with the help of other mechanics on duty. This employee is under the direct supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Director. Beginning salary is $25.44 an hour.
